Be sure to check out the included Aura skin!

WB 4.90f beta
-------------
You will need to reboot for this update.

This is the same as 4.90d apart from the filedates. 4.90e was pulled,
something wasn't happy in further testing.

10/14/05 19:01 501,842 wblind.dll
10/14/05 19:01 172,032 WbSrv.dll

WB 4.90d beta
-------------
You will need to reboot for this update.

-Wbconfig will prompt if wblind.dll is missing. Please
remove the files in the WindowBlinds dir (can leave the
subdirs), rename any locked ones, reboot, remove the
leftovers, reinstall, and reboot to enable WB5.
-.NET apps on restore should paint correctly.
-Firefox on restore should not scroll to the top.

-Any activation errors, be that Error 5 or otherwise,
please email kwilas@stardock.com the activate.log in the
\program files\stardock\sdcentral dir. Error 5 ones
have to do with your account info on the servers,
did you order under a different email address than
the one you are currently using? Or some people
wind up with multiple records under the same email,
which I have to go in and fix. So email. :)

WB 4.90c beta
-------------
You will need to reboot for this update.

-Disabled per-pixel borders when using remote desktop.
-Fix for menubar skinning on pre-WB5 skins.
-Fix for Acrobat crash when clicking the File menu.
-Fix for not being able to switch back to Luna.
-Fix for version "490" showing in SDC rather than
4.90.... You may need to uninstall and reinstall
to get that happy or goose the version string at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\WindowBlinds
to 4.90 and then let it update.
-Not addressed: Tablet TIP area and reports of
wbconfig not installing skins right all the time. Press
the refresh button in wbconfig to force the skin db to
rebuild.
-Any activation errors, be that Error 5 or otherwise,
please email kwilas@stardock.com the activate.log in the
program files\sdcentral dir. Though the Error 5 ones
should be taken care of.

WB 4.90b beta
-------------
You will need to reboot for files to get updated properly
for this build. Please also note we don't recommend using
WindowFX with this beta. There will be a new WindowFX beta
shortly that's happier with the new WindowBlinds features.

-The Arrow skin is now available for download from WinCustomize.com.
Be sure to checkout the bundled Aura, 5imple Alpha, and StealthOS
skins with their per-pixel borders and other new features!
-Explorer hanging on skin change with some skins should now be fixed.
Which means changing skins should be a lot faster.
-Right click overrides for per pixel skins work for rollup.
-Rundll32 issue should be fixed.
-Winzip extraction dialog issue should be fixed.
-Min & max animation effects now respect the WB setting.
-WBConfig troubleshooting page shows more info (that indicates if
you are missing files).
-WBConfig troubleshooting page has a checkbox for compatibility
mode which might help those ATI Mobility 9000 users who have corrupt
titlebar buttons & text background area..
-The corruption seen with KOL's Vista skin should be fixed now.
-The taskbar semi trans corruption when you apply skins sometimes should be resolved.
-The desktop fade now works correctly when the primary is to the right of the secondary.
-Minor leak with per pixel frames resolved.
-Issue with LogonStudio when applying logons should be corrected.

-If you are having problems with activation, please make sure
Activate.exe in your SDCentral dir is allowed access to the Internet.
If issues persist, email kwilas@stardock.com the activate.log file
from the SDCentral dir.

WB 4.90a beta
-------------
-Added a workaround for problems reported with NVIDIA cards. We were
able to reproduce a new test case by toggling dual-head mode where
the NVIDIA drivers that had previously been working started failing
due to issues with the alpha channel during GDI operations.
-Refreshed Arrow skin/substyles.
-There are some reports of a problem with Winzip extraction with
the main Winzip interface, we'll be looking into those. The context
menu options may be happy still. (thank you ByronT)
-The systray icon not being visible is a "feature" of this build. It'll
be coming back in later releases in a different way.

Please make sure your dll is updated after updating, a reboot should
do it. Again, you must reboot after the initial beta install to
enable skinning.

WB 4.90 beta
------------

This build is the first beta for the upcoming
WindowBlinds 5. There are going to be some
rough edges as it gets out in wider distribution,
so please be as detailed as possible with any
feedback.

The Big One - Per-pixel borders on XP

-Per-pixel (alpha-blended) titlebars and
borders. It's been an internal struggle
over the last year or more as to whether
we would be able to implement these on Windows XP
with reasonable performance. We have, _if_
you have a relatively modern video card and
good drivers for it.

What does that mean? Your video card needs to
have hardware support for alphablending and a
driver with SHADEBLENDCAPS support implemented
and functional. ATI Radeon's 9000+ or later
should be fine, NVIDIA GeForce 6000+ or later
should be fine, and even chips that you wouldn't
expect like the integrated Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME.

Some boards are not going to work with this release,
though we hope to be able to work with the driver
vendors to find a workaround. GeForce 4600/5200
and related seem to be a common trigger for that (like
they are losing the alpha channel for the images). The
top/bottom borders with per-pixel skins seem oversaturated,
but the left/right borders are working (and you can click
"through" the top border).

No, the per-pixel frames do not have a blur effect like
Windows Vista. We don't have a compositor and more
efficient access to DirectX surfaces, though we keep
trying. We'll see...

Yes, you can put shadows on your borders and make them
part of the skin. See the Arrow sample.

Other new features

-No wbload.exe process. The binary is still there for
installing skins.

-Per-pixel menus
-Per-pixel taskbar
-Per-pixel progress bar overlay
-Per-pixel "Please wait" dialog
-New wbconfig previews
-New skincast features (not in this build)
-Lots of optimizations under the hood.

When reporting problems, please check the Troubleshooting
section of WBConfig. Select the text with the left-mouse
button and press Ctrl-C to copy the text. Please include
that when reporting any visual-bugs along with a screenshot
(cropped if appropriate for size).

There is an updated SkinStudio beta available to Object Desktop
customers with support for creating per-pixel skins. You must
still include the non-pp images for systems that don't support
the new frames, so the skins should still work with WB 4.x.

Enjoy!

Thank you for your interest in WindowBlinds!

If this is the first time you have used
WindowBlinds, welcome to a new way to customize
your OS. We are pleased you've downloaded a
copy of WindowBlinds and we look forward to
your comments and suggestions (use the newsgroup
linked above).

	Applying visual styles
	----------------------
In addition to the shortcut to the WindowBlinds
Advanced Config window in your Start menu, you
can change WB visual styles and settings from either
the Skins or Appearance tab in Display Properties.

Set the skin to Windows Classic to not use
a WB skin on startup (or use the options on
the Skins tab or in the Advanced Config window).

	Download additional visual styles
	---------------------------------
Be sure to check out www.WinCustomize.com to
select from over 3500 free visual styles.

	Creating your own visual styles
	-------------------------------
Create your own visual styles with SkinStudio (www.skinstudio.net)!
See WindowBlinds.net for information on the
	UIS Language.

A note on drivers and compatibility
	-----------------------------------
WindowBlinds has been designed and tested to
be as compatible with with thousands of applications
and pieces of hardware available. Its memory load
is quite low (unless you are using complex skins
with lots of animation) and any oddities with
specific apps can generally be worked around
quickly (see the Troubleshooting section of the
online help file for more information).
