Area in Vector Files
Use the Area option to measure the area and perimeter of a region.
- From the Analysis menu, select Measure.
The Measurement dialog box appears.
Note: From the AutoVue toolbar, you can also click Measure
.
- Click the Area tab.
- Select Between Points if you want to measure the area between points on a drawing.
Note: Snapping modes are displayed.
- Select the snapping modes that you want to use for measuring.
To select all snapping modes click All On. To clear all snapping modes click All Off.
- Select Shape if you want to measure the area of a predefined shape on the drawing.
- From the Measured Area Units list, select the unit in which you want to measure the area.
- From the Perimeter Units list, select the unit in which you want to measure the perimeter.
- To cumulate a Net Area Result of different areas, click Add.
To subtract an area from the Net Area Result, click Subtract.
Select Clear to clear the Net Area Result.
- If you selected Between Points, click points on the drawing to define the area.
Each point is joined by a line. The area and perimeter measurements appear in the Measurement dialog box.
- Right-click to complete the measurement.
- If you selected Shape, click the edge of the predefined shape.
The shape is highlighted and the area and perimeter measurements appear in the Measurement dialog box.
Note: Click Reset to take another measurement.
- Click Close to close the Measurement dialog box.
