Performing an Entity Type-based Search

  1. From the Edit menu, select Entity Search.
  2. The Entity Search dialog box appears.

    Note: From the AutoVue toolbar, you can also click Entity Search .

  3. Click the Entity Types tab.
  4. From the Entity Types list, select an entity type.
  5. A list of attributes for the selected entity type appear.

    Note: To sort the list by attribute, click the attribute column heading that you want to sort by.

  6. If you want to search by attribute, select an attribute from the Attribute list.
  7. If you want to search by value, select a value from the Value list.

  8. Click Add Filter.
  9. The selected attribute and its corresponding value appear in the list.

  10. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have all the filters you want.
  11. Click Apply Filter(s).
  12. A list of entities matching the search criteria appear showing the column headers for the entity’s available attributes.

    Note: To remove a filter, select the line in the list containing the attribute and value you do not want to use as a filter, then click Remove Filter.

  13. To save the results, click Export Result.
  14. The Save As dialog box appears.

  15. Specify the file name and the directory where you want to store the file, then click Save.
  16. AutoVue saves the results in a .csv (Comma Separated Values) file.

  17. To view the properties of an entity, select the entity from the Entity Types list or the Attributes list, then right-click and select Show Entity Properties.
  18. The Entities Properties dialog box appears and displays the properties for the selected entity.

  19. To show the net connectivity, click the Attributes tab, select the entity from the list, then right-click and select Show Net Connectivity.
  20. The net connectivity for the selected entity is highlighted in the workspace.

  21. Click Close to close the Entity Search dialog box.
