Measuring Cumulative Distance

Use the Cumulative Distance option to measure the distance along a path of multi-faceted (adjoining) points.

  1. From the Markup menu, select Add entity, select Measurement, and then select Distance.
  2. The Measurement Entities dialog box appears.

    Note: From the Markup Entity toolbar, you can also click Distance .

  3. Select the snapping modes that you want to use for measuring.
  4. To select all snapping modes, click All On. To deselect all snapping modes, click All Off.

  5. From the Measured Distance Units list, select the unit that you want to measure the distance.
  6. Select Cumulative.
  7. Click the first entity to define the starting point.
  8. Continue clicking points along the path that you want to measure.
  9. Each point is joined by a line.

  10. Right-click to complete the measurement.
  11. The measured line path, measurement and unit appear in a value box entity on the current active markup layer. The measured distance, Delta-X, Delta-Y and the “Manhattan Distance” appear in the Measurement Entities dialog box.

    Note: Click Reset to take another measurement.

  12. Click Close to close the Measurement Entities dialog box.
