KeyNote 1.6.9 README
date: 2009-10-18

IMPORTANT NOTE!
Before you can use this version, you must first download and install
the full installation package of KeyNote. The full package is available
at http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote_download.html (or check
www.tranglos.com if the links change). Install the full package first,
and then overwrite 'keynote.exe' with the 1.6.9 version included here.

Changes in this release:

- The dialog boxes displayed when deleting a node or a note
have been completely redesigned. It is now a little more difficult
  to delete things accidentally.

- Tree nodes now remember the date they were last created and last modified.
Because previously these dates were not kept, KeyNote will show the
  following for existing files:
  * Creation date of a tree node will be shown as the same as the creation
date of the note (which was maintained)
  * Modification date of a tree node will not be shown (as in, never modified)
until the node is modified in the current version of KeyNote.

Node modification date is updated only when the editor contents change,
not when a node is renamed or has properties changed.

- In tree-type notes, an optional Information Panel is displayed above the
editor area. The panel displays the title of the selected node (always in
bold font) and creation/modification dates. The panel is hidden by default.
To display it, in the View menu select Node Information Panel.

(This is a per-note setting, i.e. for some notes you may choose to display
the panel, and hide it for others.

Right-clicking the information panel displays a menu of options.
There are 4 font style settings available in the menu:

* Font Style: As Editor Default - information panel text is displayed
using the font properties defined as default for the current note.

* Font Style: As Current Editor - information panel text is displayed
using the default font properties for the current editor. This is
the default setting and causes the information panel to blend best
 with the editor area.

* Font Style: As Tree - information panel text is displayed using the font
 properties selected for the tree.

* Font Style: As Editor Default - information panel text is displayed using
the font properties selected for the tree. If currently selected node
has its own font, color or highlight, these settings are used for the
information panel as well. With this setting enabled, the information panel
 blends best with the tree.

Note that the font style setting above has no effect on the size of text
in the information panel; font size is not configurable. In addition,
the node title is always displayed using bold font in the information panel,
and creation/modification dates are always displayed using a non-bold
version of the font.

The right-click menu of the information panel also offers another styling
option: Use Light (Engraved) Style. Selecting this option causes the
information panel text to show as engraved, or etched. This style provides
a lighter look, and is useful if the panel contents distract you from the
editor area. With this option enabled, the information panel acquires
a low-key look. (The Engraved option looks great with some fonts,
and not-so-good with others, so you may want to experiment a little.)
