0. INTRODUCTION
   ************

Streets of Rage Remake is a homage to the famous Sega MegaDrive/Genesis saga,
aiming to keep the same gameplay and spirit from the 2nd and 3rd installments
with some touches from the 1st one. It includes new music, locations,
enemies, moves, graphical effects, a parallel plot and a lot more features.

3. GAME MODES
   **********

- 1 PLAYER : the main 1 player story mode.
- 1 PLAYER AND CPU : the same mode but with a partner controlled by the
computer. You can even adjust the behavior of the CPU partner.
- 2 PLAYERS : the story mode but with 2 players.
- BATTLE : a VS fight between 2 players.
- SURVIVAL (unlockable) : face a stream of enemies, having a single life gauge
(1 player only).
- FLAG (unlockable) : 2 players only. When the match starts, a flag appears on
the ground. The goal is to pick up the flag and hold it for a longer time than
your opponent.
- VOLLEYBALL (unlockable) : a fun game mode which delivers what it states (2
players only).

A. GAME OPTIONS

- LEVEL (EASY, NORMAL, HARD, VERY HARD, MANIA)
Sets the game difficulty and the number of continues available.

- LIVES (0 - 5)
Number of initial lives per continue.

- DAMAGE BETWEEN PLAYERS (YES, NO)
Enables or disables damage between player characters in story mode when playing
a 2 PLAYERS or a 1 PLAYER AND CPU game.

- SAVE GAME (AUTO, NO)
AUTO : will save the game, records and configuration on exiting the game.
NO : will save nothing but this parameter.

- LANGUAGE (SPANISH, ENGLISH)
Changes the language of the game.

- TIME (YES, NO)
YES : the story mode has a countdown (timer) which makes you loose one life if
it reaches zero.
NO : there is no timer.

- COMBO TYPE (SOR2, SOR3)
SOR2 : if you press the attack button repeatedly, your character will keep
jabbing if not hitting an enemy, player or object.
SOR3 : your character will perform the full combo even if he doesn't hit
anything.

- JUMP TYPE (SOR2, SOR3)
SOR2 : you can't modify the jump direction of your character in mid-air.
SOR3 : you can move in mid-air.

- DEATH TYPE (SOR, REMAKE)
SOR : when losing a life, the player character disappears and falls from above,
knocking down all enemies on screen (without damage).
REMAKE : the player character will simply get back up when losing a life.

- USE GUNS (YES, NO)
YES : you can use the guns that you find or that enemies drop.
NO : you can't use guns in the game.

B. VIDEO OPTIONS

- GAME SPEED (60 FPS, 50 FPS)
Sets the speed of the whole game (default speed is 60 FPS).

- GRAPHIC MODE (NORMAL, 2xSCALE)
NORMAL : displays the screen at the original 320x240 resolution.
2xSCALE : the 640x480 resolution is achieved by applying a filter. It is slow
and not recommended for computers which barely meet the minimal requirements.

- SCANLINES (NO, 25%, 50%)
Simulates scanlines with several degrees of transparency (only when GRAPHIC MODE
is set to NORMAL).

- DISPLAY (WINDOW, FULL SCREEN)
Switches between WINDOW and FULL SCREEN modes, which can also be changed by
pressing the ALT + ENTER key combination at any moment.

- MOTION BLUR (YES, NO)
Adds motion blur effects on specific character and enemy moves.

- VISUAL EFFECTS (REMAKE, SOR)
REMAKE : shows remade flashes, hits and dust.
SOR : shows the original SOR effects.

- SHADOWS (REFLECTED, ROUNDED, SOR)
REFLECTED : the character's shadow is his silhouette which varies with movement
and according to the light source.
ROUNDED : old school rounded shadows.
SOR : simulates the original SOR shadows.

- BLOOD (YES, NO)
If activated, the game shows blood, dismembering and similar effects when using
specific weapons.

- SHOW FPS (YES, NO)
Switches on or off the frames-per-second counter which appears at the lower left
corner of the screen.

- TRANSPARENCIES (25%, 50%)
This option affects the whole program. Setting it to 25% grants 64 levels of
transparency while setting it to 50% grants 128 levels. When changed, this setting
will take effect when restarting the game. Its use is not recommended on computers
with less than 128 MB of RAM.

You can play all the tracks from the OST here.

- SE
The sound effects from the game can be listened to here.

- VOICE
The voice samples can be heard there.

- BGM SOURCE (OST, AUDIO CD, NONE)
OST : the soundtrack composed for this remake will be played in-game.
AUDIO CD : will play tracks from an audio CD in-game. They will be randomly chosen
but they can be skipped by pressing F9 (previous track) or F10 (next track).
NONE : there won't be any music played in-game.

- BGM VOLUME (0 - 99)
Sets the volume of the background music.

- SE VOLUME (0 - 99)
Sets the volume of the sound effects.

- 2D POSITIONAL SOUND (YES, NO)
The sound effects will play panned according to their origin on the screen.

- REVERSE STEREO (YES, NO)
Reverses the sound effects position (only applies when 2D POSITIONAL SOUND is on).

- SOUND ENGINE (SOR, ACCUMULATIVE)
SOR : hit samples and some other sound effects are played through a single channel
which can only play one sample at a time.
ACCUMULATIVE : frees every available sound channel for samples to be played, so for
instance if three enemies were to be hit at the same time, three hits would be heard
simultaneously.

- SE TYPE (SOR2, SOR3, COMBINED)
SOR2 : all hit samples will be the SOR2 ones.
SOR3 : all hit samples will be the SOR3 ones.
COMBINED : the hit samples will depend on the character selected.

(1) Select the player for which you want to configure the controls.
(2) Select KEYBOARD or GAMEPAD if you have one plugged in. If you accidentally
selected GAMEPAD and you don't have one, or if it is not detected, you can quit this
setting by pressing the ESC key.
(3) Enter each button configuration successively.
(N.B.: the directions of a gamepad are automatically calibrated.)

5. EXTRAS

- IMAGE GALLERY
Press left or right to browse through the unlocked images. Press B, C or
START to exit.

- PROFILE EDITOR
You can edit your profile to personalize your game.
NAME : type in your name using the keyboard. This will be the name that will be
shown on the rankings.
DATE OF BIRTH : change the numbers using the up and down arrow keys. It could hide
a little surprise !
AGE : automatically generated according to the DATE OF BIRTH.
COUNTRY : type in your country.
SEX : select MALE or FEMALE.
FAVORITE CHARACTER : defines the character highlighted by default at the "select
player" screen.
FAVORITE PALETTE : sets the color palette used by defaut for your character.
PROFILE FOR : two different profiles can be edited, one for each player.

- MOVIE THEATRE
Allows you to watch a previously shown cutscene from the game. Press B to exit.

- COLOR EDITOR
This is a tool to make your own alternate color palette for each playable character.
Press left or right to change character and up or down to browse through the
different palette kinds. Use your mouse to move the pointer and to make selections
by left-clicking. Press B, C or START to exit.
The editor consists of several sections :
(1) Color chosing box. This is where you look for new colors.
(2) RGB indexes. The upper one shows the selected color while the lower one shows
the color where the pointer is currently placed on. Left-click to choose that color.
(3) The character's color palette, made up of maximum 16 colors. Each box shows a
single color from the character's palette. You can swap any color from the palette
for your currently selected color by left-clicking on it (see (2)).
(4) The current character's sprite, which shows the palette changes in real time.

The color palettes are saved in the "SAVEGAME" folder, with files having a ".pal"
extension.
Examples : axel.pal, blaze.pal, skate.pal.

Every time you change the original color palette, the changes are saved in the
per-character file. You can replace, copy or delete these files in real time
but always respecting the file names. If used correctly, this could be used as
additional "default" or "undo last changes" functions.

- STAGE SELECT
You need to visit all the stages of the game to unlock this feature. When it's done,
you can start a new game from any of the stages. Press B to exit.

- CHEATS
They are revealed when completing the game. They are key words which, if correctly
typed at the "BOMBERGAMES" logo, will cause the specified in-game effect.

A list of the secrets you have unlocked so far.
