Navigate to Tools | Adaptive Server Enterprise | Preferences then select the Server Discovery tab.
Check Enable Server Discovery
Select Add.
Select the discovery method from the scroll menu.
JINI – an open architecture that enables developers to create network-centric services that are highly adaptive to change. JINI offers a standard lookup service for discovery.
User Datagram Protocol (UDP) – a network protocol that provides a procedure for application programs to send messages to other programs with a minimal protocol mechanism.
If UDP is used, only servers on the same subnet as the
one on which Sybase Central is running are discovered.
If you selected JINI in the previous step:
Select the host of the JINI server
Select either the default host and port or enter new ones
Click OK.
To add or edit a discovery filter, click Filters. Server Discovery uses only the selected filters for its search. To specify a filter:
Click Add.
Select Enable this Filter.
Select the target you want filtered, Host, Name, OS, Platform, Port, Release type, Status, Version.
Select the condition: contains, does not contain, is, is not, starts with, ends with.
Enter the condition string you want filtered.
Click OK.
Configure the ASE plug-in to discover clusters currently running on the system. Use
Remove – to remove a discovery service from the list.
Edit – to edit the settings for a current discovery service.
Up – to move the selected discovery service up the list.
Down – to move the selected discovery service down the list.
