Creating system encryption passwords

The system security officer creates the default system encryption password. Adaptive Server encrypts keys using the AES algorithm. The vulnerability of key storage is key-encrypting key that is constructed from a password. The system encryption password is stored in the database, in an encrypted form. If system encryption passwords are too short or easy to guess, the security of the encryption keys may be compromised.

StepsCreate system encryption passwords

  1. In the server, click Databases to display a list of available databases.

  2. In the database list, right-click the database you want.

  3. Select System Encryption Key.

  4. Select Create System Encryption Password.

  5. In the Password field, enter a password of six or more characters.

  6. Reenter the password in the Confirm New Password field.

  7. Click OK.
