Creating a segment

Before you create a segment, the database device on which you want to create it must exist and the database you create it for must have space allocated on the device.

Privileges

A database owner can create a segment.

To create a segment

Select the Segments folder in the database on which you want to create the segment.
Select File | New | Segment. The Create New Segment wizard opens. It asks for the following information:

Input	Description
Name	Name for the new segment.
Database device	Device on which to create the segment.

Shortcuts

Select the Segments folder icon in the appropriate database. In the right pane, double-click the Add Segment icon.
