Only a system administrator can create a dump device.
Before you create a dump device, read “Creating database devices”.
Creating a dump device
Select the Dump Devices folder.
Select File | New | Dump Device.
The Dump Device Creation wizard asks for the following information:

Enter the full path name of the physical device in your environment to which to map the logical name. On a UNIX host, this can be the name of a raw partition or operating system disk file. |

Logical name for the new dump device. |
Type |
Specify a tape device or file device. |
Capacity |
For a tape device, specify the capacity. |
Select the Dump Device folder icon. Double-click the Add Dump Device icon.
