Operators can back up any database. Database Owners can back up databases they own.
Backing up a database
Select the database icon.
Select File | Backup. The Backup Command Creation wizard opens. The Backup Command Creation wizard asks for the following information:

Name of database or databases to back up. |
Scope |
Back up the entire database or just the transaction log. |
Device name |
Specify the dump device or devices for the backup. |
Backup name |
Optionally, specify a name for the backup. |
Retention time |
Optionally, override the default retention time. |
Append |
Specify whether or not to append to an existing backup. |
Rewind |
For tape devices, specify whether or not to rewind the tape after the backup. |
Right-click the database icon. Select Backup from the shortcut menu.
