Assigning roles to a login

Roles enable you to enforce individual accountability inside Adaptive Server. Adaptive Server provides system roles, such as system administrator and system security officer, and user-defined roles, which are created by a system security officer. Object owners can grant database access as appropriate to each role.

When a user logs into Adaptive Server, the user’s roles are not necessarily active, depending option the default that is set for the role.

Assigning a role to a login

Select the login icon, then choose File | Properties.
Select the Roles tab.
Click Add.

The Add Role to Login dialog box opens.
In the list, select the role you want to add to this login.
Click OK.
On the Roles tab, click Apply.
