The Find button allows you to search for Adaptive Servers on your network monitored by Unified Agents. You can configure these agents to respond to various lookup requests, such as LDAP, Jini, or UDP (the default).
To use Find to search for Adaptive Servers on your network:
Select Tools | Connect. The Connect dialog box appears.
Click the Find button. Sybase Central displays a message indicating that it is searching for servers on the network that using the configured services. You can select Cancel to stop the search.
When the search if finished, Sybase Central displays a list of available servers in a dialog box titled Discovered Servers - service_name. For example, if you are using the UDP service, the dialog box is titled “Discovered Servers - UDP.” This dialog box includes the following information:
Name – the server name set by the UA Adaptive Server agent. If the client side interfaces file contains an entry for the same server, the client-side server name is shown.
Version – the version of the Adaptive Server.
Host:Port – the host name and port number of the Adaptive Server.
Platform /OS – platform and operating system of the host.
Status – the current server state.
The server information is not cached, so the list represents the servers that are running at the time you select the Find button.
Select a server from the list and click OK. This server name appears in the Server Name box in the Connect dialog box.
Click OK to connect to this server.
