If you have not yet registered with a JINI server but want to create a cluster anyway, follow these steps. These are also the same steps you take when creating an instance except that you go to the Add Instance wizard by right clicking on the Instances folder and selecting New Instance. See “Adding an instance to a cluster” for more information on adding an instance to a cluster.
Before creating a database, make sure enough space is available on the database devices you plan to use.
Creating a cluster
Select Tools | Adaptive Server Enterprise | Create Cluster. The Cluster Creation wizard opens. The Cluster Creation wizard asks for the following information:
On the “Specify Cluster Name and Platform” screen, when the wizard attempts to discover eligible hosts, click Skip.
On the “Select Cluster Nodes” screen, click Specify Node. Input host and agent port into the dialog. Click OK.
On the “Select Cluster Nodes” screen, click Specify Node. Input host and agent port into the dialog. Click OK. The node will be added to the list. If there is a problem an error message will appear. Follow the instructions on the error message to eliminate errors.
Continue with the steps in the Cluster Creation wizard.
