The Filter window (accessed by choosing View > Filter Events in the Log Viewer) lets you configure the way you want to filter messages in the Log Viewer. The Filter window has the following components:
Type Lets you configure the type of messages you want to appear. You can view only one type, or any combination of types. To select a type, click the name. A type is selected when its button appears to be pushed in. By default, all message types are selected.
Information Sets the Log Viewer to show or hide information messages.
Warning Sets the Log Viewer to show or hide warning messages.
Error Sets the Log Viewer to show or hide error messages.
Source Lets you display messages from only one plug-in. If you choose All (the default), messages from all plug-ins are displayed. To choose only one plug-in, enter the plug-in name from the Log Viewer's Source column. Note that this field is case sensitive.
Short Message Sets the Log Viewer to show log entries with short messages that contain the specified value.
Description Sets the Log Viewer to show log entries with descriptions that contain the specified value.
From Lets you configure the date and time of the oldest message that appears in the Log Viewer.
To Lets you configure the date and time of the most recent message that appears in the Log Viewer.
Restore Defaults Clears all of the settings in the window and resets the options to their default settings. The Source field reverts to All, and Type reverts to all selected.
