You can submit a RTF
or HTML file with temporary citations to the BiblioWeb server through a
web browser, BiblioWeb can generate citations and bibliography according
to the selected style and send the formatted file back.
RTF: Rich Text
Format is specified by Microsoft to make sharing documents among
different word processor easier. All Window's word processor can open
and save documents in RTF format.
Temporary
citations: Bibliographic software can format a document based on a
certain style. In order to do that, you need to insert temporary
citations at where you want to cite a reference. For Biblioscape, the
following format is used for temporary citations: [any text #ID]. For
example: [Smith, K. 1992 #23] where 23 is the reference ID. If you need
to cite more than one references, use " / " to separate them.
For example: [Smith, K. 1992 #23 / Bowen, P. J. 1997 #298 / Ishaq, K.
1989 #95].
Style:
Different journal requires different style for manuscript submitted.
Biblioscape comes with a large number of styles and more is available at
Biblioscape web site. Biblioscape user can also create new styles. If
you can not find a style provided by BiblioWeb, please contact the
administer first.
To format a document
online, first select the file with temporary citations by clicking on
the "Browse" button. Then select the style you want to use and
make sure the "File type" selected is correct. Clicking on the
"Format" button to start. After BiblioWeb server finished the
formatting process, the formatted file will be sent back to you. You
have to first save it and then open the save file with your word
processor.
If you need to add
more temporary citations in the formatted document, or your need to
delete some citations, etc. You may have to re-format the document.
Before that, you have to first convert the formatted document to
document with temporary citations. To unformat a document, click on the
"Browse" button to select the file, make sure the "File
type" is correct. Click on the "Unformat" button to
start.
