Introduction to
BiblioWeb
BiblioWeb is an
Internet/Intranet application for bibliographic software - Biblioscape.
It is an application server that can support a large number of
concurrent users accessing the same bibliographic database by web
browser. BiblioWeb provides the following basic feature sets to users
with a web browser:

bibliographic records with indexed search or advanced search. |

a hyper linked index of author, journal, keyword, year, etc. |

Display marked
records in selected style, or export marked records. |

bibliographic records from a text file with an import filter. |

a RTF or HTML document according to a selected style. |
Apply for an
account
To use BiblioWeb, you
need first login as a user. If you don't
have an account already set up, click the sign
up now to provide some essential information. Based on the server
setup options, you may be granted access immediately, otherwise the administer
will contact you by email once your account is approved.
There are three types
of user account:
Read: User can only search, browse, display, export bibliographic
records.
Write: Plus the right to add, import, update records and format
documents.
Admin: Can edit, delete, move any user's records.
Manage bibliographic
records
Bibliographic records
can be organized into folder. To move records into a folder, first check
the box before each records you want to move, then select the folder you
want to move to and click the "Move to Folder" button.
Add: Click
the hyperlink "New Record". First select the folder the new
record will reside, then select the reference type. After entering all
the data, click on the "Save" button. Each author should
entered entered as "lastname, firstname middlename" and
separated by "; " (i.e. Smith, K.; Paket, Leo; Ishaq, K.). For
corporate name, it should end with "," (i.e. National
Institute of Health,). Date should be entered in US format (i.e.
8/6/1994).
Edit: Click
on the reference type icon to display a record, then click on the
"Edit" icon to edit a record.
Delete: Click
on the reference type icon to display a record, then click on the
"Delete" icon to delete a record.
Only users with
"Write" account can add, edit, or delete records. The
administer may choose the option to only let the user who created the
record to edit or delete it. Web users with "Admin" account do
not have this limilation.
Exchange ideas at
user forum
BiblioWeb provides a
web based forum for users to post public messages. All users can post,
reply, and search messages. The posted messages are organized by
threads.

forum is a great place to share ideas, interests, etc. It is less
intrusive than email. |
Access web resources
There are almost
unlimited bibliographic resources on the web. BiblioWeb has a hyperlink
to a web directory of bibliographic resources organized by
biblioscape.com
